The photos above and below show the modern passenger terminal at Tasmania's Flinders Island Airport. Being an island, and fairly remotely located in Bass Strait, Flinders Is is heavily dependent on air transport. As of 2018, the airport is serviced by scheduled airline Sharp Aviation, operating Swearingen Metros and connecting the island with Launceston in Tasmania and Essendon in Victoria. Additionally, a number of charter operators from mainland Tasmania or Victoria operate frequent flights to the island. One such flight was operated by Piper PA-31-350 Chieftain VH-PWA on 11 March 2004.

Much of the terrain of Flinders Island is formed by rugged granite mountains. The main Flinders Is aerodrome is located on a flat area near the main town of Whitemark on the mid-west coast of the island. The photo above looks south-east, with the longer Runway 14/32 at right. Cut into the trees running across the image is the shorter Runway 05/23, with the apon and passenger terminal just visible at the north-eastern (left) end of the runway.

The image below is on final approach to Runway 05, with the passenger terminal behind the trees at the far end of the runway on the right. Runway 14/32 runs along the shoreline to the left of the image.
